DESCRIPTION:Instructor\n\n\n\nDomenico Santoro\, Ph.D.\, Sr. Manager Research and Innovation\, USP Technologies\n\n\n\nDomenico Santoro completed his PhD in Environmental Engineering specializing in water and wastewater treatment. His Ph.D. dissertation\, focused on peracetic acid (PAA) disinfection of municipal wastewater\, paved the way for the adoption of PAA as a chlorine-alternative disinfectant. Currently\, Dr. Santoro holds a double appointment as Senior Research Scientist at USP Technologies (London\, ON – Canada) and Research Professor at the University of Western Ontario. His main responsibilities include investigation and development of novel wastewater treatment processes and technologies. Eng.\, Senior Process Engineer\, EnviroSim Associates Ltd.\n\n\n\nDaniela Conidi is a Senior Process Engineer with EnviroSim Associates Ltd. Daniela has over 10 years of experience in wastewater treatment including process design\, full-plant modeling and model development for biological nutrient removal\, chemical phosphorus removal\, and phosphorus recovery. Daniela obtained her Bachelor of Applied Science in Environmental Engineering (2008)\, and her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (2015) from the University of Waterloo. Daniela joined EnviroSim in 2015. At EnviroSim\, Daniela is involved in the development of model extensions to simulate leading edge wastewater treatment technologies\, and model-based assessments of existing and future treatment works. Daniela also provides technical support for clients in their applications of BioWin and leads model training courses. \n\n\n\nGillian Burger\, MASc.\, P.Eng.\, Senior Process Engineer\, EnviroSim Associates Ltd.\n\n\n\nGillian has been working as a process modelling engineer at EnviroSim Associates since 2013. She provides consulting support to clients assessing plant capacity\, optimizing process design and calibrating full plant models and specific treatment applications. Gillian delivers training courses\, develops model extensions for the BioWin simulator and provides modelling support to users. Gillian has measured and analyzed influent wastewater characteristics\, nitrification rates\, and BNR performance at numerous plants worldwide. Prior to EnviroSim\, Gillian worked as a civil engineer for Golder Associates and Aurecon in South Africa.
