OWC Academy – BioWin Simulation for Evaluating Energy and Operation Costs
August 18, 2021 @ 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm EDT
Instructors:
Daniela Conidi, Ph.D., P. Eng., Senior Process Engineer, EnviroSim Associates Ltd.
Daniela Conidi is a Senior Process Engineer with EnviroSim Associates Ltd. Daniela has over 10 years of experience in wastewater treatment including process design, full-plant modeling and model development for biological nutrient removal, chemical phosphorus removal, and phosphorus recovery. Daniela obtained her Bachelor of Applied Science in Environmental Engineering (2008), and her Ph.D. in Civil Engineering (2015) from the University of Waterloo. Daniela joined EnviroSim in 2015. At EnviroSim, Daniela is involved in the development of model extensions to simulate leading edge wastewater treatment technologies, and model-based assessments of existing and future treatment works. Daniela also provides technical support for clients in their applications of BioWin and leads model training courses.
Gillian Burger, MASc., P.Eng., Senior Process Engineer, EnviroSim Associates Ltd.
Gillian has been working as a process modelling engineer at EnviroSim Associates since 2013. She provides consulting support to clients assessing plant capacity, optimizing process design and calibrating full plant models and specific treatment applications. Gillian delivers training courses, develops model extensions for the BioWin simulator and provides modelling support to users. Gillian has measured and analyzed influent wastewater characteristics, nitrification rates, and BNR performance at numerous plants worldwide. Prior to EnviroSim, Gillian worked as a civil engineer for Golder Associates and Aurecon in South Africa. She holds a MASc in Civil Engineering from the University of Waterloo and a B.Eng. in Civil Engineering from McGill University.
