ElectroKinetic Solutions (EKS) underscores its dedication to research and development by showcasing its' signature EKS-Dewatering Technology (EKS-DT), designed to rapidly dewater the tailings in a tailings storage facility (TSF) , addressing the liability posed by the tailings.

Empowering Tailings Management Through Efficiency & Liability Mitigation
The effectiveness of the EKS-DT process is most pronounced for tailings with a high fines content and low solids content. With current tailings management technologies, these tailings tend to be the most difficult and expensive to dewater. Many un-reclaimed legacy TSFs have a high fines content and are difficult to treat with current technologies. The EKS-DT process offers the opportunity to eliminate these liabilities at much less cost than current tailings management technologies.

EKS-DT Innovation Highlights
The EKS-DT Process is a unique solution to managing tailings; no comparable technology is available. This in-situ process consists of many parallel pairs of electrodes deployed inside a TSF.

The mining industry is facing significant pressure from investors, governments, and the public to address the environmental liability associated with the large inventories of unstable tailings and the continuing increase in this inventory. The costs incurred by the mining industry for tailings management, including TSF construction, material transport and tailings dewatering, are significant.
Reducing the liability associated with tailings is essential for the economic future of the mining industry and its ability to attract investment in mining operations.
