The SOWC is a platform for turning water ideas into water innovations through research, development, testing and demonstration of solutions to water problems faced in Ontario and around the world.
What do we do?
The SOWC is building a platform to connect businesses, researchers and municipalities with facilities in real world environments to research, and develop and demonstrate new water technologies. The SOWC is supported by the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), as well as the Government of Ontario. Our partners already include eight universities, municipalities, not-for-profits, and private sector supporters, including IBM as primary corporate supporter.
How can we help you?
When fully functional in 2014 the SOWC platform will consist of 8 water testing facilities which will provide a unique opportunity for collaboration, development and demonstration. The SOWC is ready to consider projects and ideas as we build toward full functionality. We are interested in engaging potential users to understand their needs and evaluate how the SOWC platform can help meet them.
Are you a private sector water company?
Are you developing solutions to challenges in the treatment of drinking water and waste water? The SOWC can connect your company with state-of-the-art laboratories, mobile stations, municipal waste water plants and field sites for water monitoring, ranging from relatively pristine to urbanized bodies of water. The SOWC can help companies perfect and prove their products independently or in collaboration with academics and municipalities.
Are you an academic or industry researcher?
Do you have an idea that needs to be researched, developed and demonstrated in a real world situation or with watershed data? The SOWC has the research partnerships and is investing in the state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure to support your research. If you want to work collaboratively, SOWC can facilitate the connections to private sector, municipal and academic partners.
Are you a municipality?
Does your municipality face unique challenges in the treatment of drinking water and waste water? The SOWC can connect your municipality with leading researchers and businesses to work on advanced solutions to water related issues in your municipality. We have partnerships with 8 universities, the private sector and other partners to help address municipal water challenges.
As we build the SOWC platform we are very interested in talking with potential users and collaborators. Stay tuned for updates or contact us to see how we can work together.
