On April 16th SOWC and Wilfrid Laurier University hosted the Analytical & Ecotoxicology Event and Networking Session at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Paul Martin Centre. The event was attended by over 40 people from industry and the academic sector, including representation from 7 universities.
Moderated by Brenda Lucas, SOWC Operations Manager, the event brought together some of Ontario’s most respected ecotoxicology researchers.
Dr. Abby Goodrum, VP Research Wilfrid Laurier University, gave an overview of the water research taking place of Wilfrid Laurier. Dr. Deborah MacLatchy, also of Wilfrid Laurier University and co-leader of the SOWC Ecotoxicology Node, gave an overview of the Ecotoxicology Node capacity and interests, and provided an update about the development of the Centre for Cold Regions and Water Science, opening in spring 2013.
Dr. Mark Servos, from the University of Waterloo and co-leader of the SOWC Analytical Node, gave an overview of Analytical Node capacity and interests as well as speaking about his research on environmental fate and effects of contaminants in the environment.
