Rachel Arsenault who is an advisor at Coeuraj Canada and Ph.D. student at York University joins us to speak about the water insecurity in First Nations Communities.

Although the United Nations Joint Monitoring Program reports 99% of North Americans have access to safely managed water and sanitation facilities there are communities being left behind. Speaker Bio: Rachel Arsenault  is a PhD student at York University. Her master’s research at Laurentian University/Université Laurentienne focused on how the First Nations water crises impacted communities and water insecurity in First Nations. She conducted an exploratory study to understand the causes of the water crises and developed potential solutions by gaining Indigenous perspectives and recommendations on water governance and security. She highlights, “the necessity of including Indigenous priorities, values, and laws into efforts to achieve water security in First Nations communities.”
